Welcome to the new Gastric Band Institute blog! Please make sure to check back frequently, or better yet, subscribe to our feed, as we plan on posting news of upcoming events, various topics regarding bariatric surgery and obesity treatments, and subjects that may be relevant to our valued patients.
We’re excited for the upcoming Clothing Exchange event, which will take place this Friday, Jan. 30, from 2-4 and also Saturday, Jan. 31, from 11-2 in the seminar room, or should I say “boutique,” behind our office. Sheila from the office has been hard at work organizing the clothes and preparing for a great turnout. Last night at our gastric band support group (we had about 40 patients attending), some of our patients got a sneak peek at the clothes. They were impressed with the quality AND quantity of the clothing the office collected from patients who had “shrunk” out of their wardrobe. One of the measures our patients gauge their success by is changing dress and waist sizes. Although Dr. Atkinson and I frequently hear complaints from our patients about continually needing to purchase new clothes for their changing bodies, it is always with a smile and a twinkle in their eye.
In addition to racks of free clothing, an image consultant will be on hand to give our patients tips on dressing their new physiques. Media will also be attending and some of our support group patients are kind enough to volunteer their time to share their stories with them.
We hope to see you there! Check out my next entry to learn all the post-event details if you miss it, or be sure to leave me your comments to tell me about your new finds!

I can not say ENOUGH, how happy I am with the skin I am in! I have not felt like this for years. I feel beautiful, I have energy, I have self confidence, and a better self esteem….my life has been changed forever. Thank you SWCC for giving me this chance at a new life and a new me! I really enjoyed the event on Saturday (clothing exchange) and meeting other successful banders!
All of people next year might be brighter knowing this!
